FAQ

What are Ordinals?

In simple terms Ordinals are digital artifacts inscribed onto the Bitcoin blockchain for eternity.
For more details, checkout the blog from the creator himself, Casey Rodarmor.

What are the inscription numbers of the Genesis collection?

Our Genesis Fomojis are inscribed between #18951 and #24112. You can view all Fomojis, along with their inscription numbers on the collection page.
The full list has also been inscribed as an ordinal for eternity.

How can I buy a Genesis Fomoji?

Fomojis can be bought and sold on any ordinals marketplace, but we recommend Magic Eden or Gamma.
Before you purchase, make sure to check the inscription number to make sure it is a genuine Fomoji.

What are recursive inscriptions?

Our Fomojis 2.0 collection made heavy use of recursive inscriptions to minimise the size of of our inscriptions as much as possible.

A recursive inscription is any inscription that references another inscription. This is done in HTML/Javascript inscriptions by retrieving the content of another inscription. We are using this to construct each image based on its traits.

Put simply, each inscription is not actually an image, but instead a HTML file which retrieves each indivdual trait and layers them on top of each other to create the final image. Because of this, the traits are just inscribed once, and reused many times, which saves block space. HTML files are many times smaller than images, improving the efficiency of the inscriptions enormously.

How does the delayed reveal work?

For Fomojis 2.0, we developed a method for an on-chain delayed reveal, and are one of the first major projects to do this.

All the metadata about the traits has already been inscribed here, however it is encrypted making it impossible for anyone to know which traits are in each Fomoji.

When we are ready to reveal, we will inscribe the encryption key, which will allow the metadata to be decrypted.

Before the reveal, each inscription retrieves the metadata, and attempts to retrieve the encryption key. It will fail to get the key because it is not inscribed and reverts back to displaying our logo.

After the reveal the key is inscribed, so the inscriptions will be able to retrieve the key and decrypt the metadata. The metadata is then used to construct each image by recursively retrieving the trait images.
